Gates McFadden (Cheryl Gates)

Cheryl Gates McFadden's wiki states she is a graduate of Brandeis. It would be nice to see her added to the list of distinguished graduates. Dear Scolaire,

I just wanted to add that Brandeis University is located within the Boston Metropolitan Area!! Given Brandeis's location, and the fact that this is often overlooked. Additionally, I do not want to remove the crucial statement of the University's foundation within the jewish community, but rather move it to a new 'history' column of the article, if you think this would be a good idea? I would appreciate your feedback and I will wait until I hear back from you, thanks! I too am a proud alumni of Brandeis University class of '17 !!. First, you should probably review our policies and practices related to conflicts of interest. Being an alumnus isn't the strongest conflict that one could have but it's definitely a conflict of interest that should be acknowledged and managed.

I disagree that we should mention "Boston" in the article's very first sentence. We already link to Waltham, Massachusetts so readers who want to immediately know more about the university's location can easily do so. I don't even know that it's necessary to say anything about Boston in the lede section at all. However, the current "Campus" section of this article is undeveloped so it might warrant a mention there if you'd like to expand it. In particular, we don't seem to say anything at all about the campus as a whole - we just have a few paragraphs about specific locations. ElKevbo (talk) 23:56, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Irishjournalist10112: We don't move essential facts from the lead to the article body, we elaborate on them. Moreover, you didn't move anything anywhere; you edited to remove the statements that the university was founded as a non-sectarian, coeducational institution sponsored by the Jewish community, and that 34% of students identify as Jewish. ADL Ranking

The ADL ranking is an attributed statement of opinion, not a statement of fact. All rankings are biased in some way and factor in different things. Attributing an opinion does not fall under the same guidelines as a statement of fact. The sentence "The university received an A on the "Campus Antisemitism Report Card" from the Anti-Defamation League in 2024 and 2025.^[1]^[2] is just conveying the opinion of that group, not stating is as fact.
